A battle roar escaped my body as I broke free of my restraints

I was on no battlefield, at least not one of war

I was among apothecaries and mechanicum magos on a med vault. Just awakened by a shock to my hearts and the stimulants released by my new Belisarian Furnace

In order to be reborn as a tool of war I had to be broken first. This process, the Rubicon Primaris, had already taken half of our Chapter's brothers. We, the Lions of Vengeance, Successors to the First Legion, fashioned ourselves as tools of war; when our Primaris brethren came among us we decided not to be deemed obsolete, we would all cross the Rubicon, no matter the cost, and the cost was high.

...

It's now been a full month since the operation, we are about to reach our target, Sostima, a desert hell according to reports, being besieged by greenskin forces. Wearing my new Tacticus Armor, strapping my Bolt Rifle and holding my Chainsword, I look upon the nine soldiers in front of me, nine Intercessors 6 of them wore the Black, Gold and Green as I did. These were our Chapter's colors and heraldry: pitch black armor (in memories of the Dark Angels' original colors), gold trims and a gold left kneepad were, lastly, our right arm and left leg were painted green in memory of Caliban.

2 of them wore just Black and Gold. This meant they still hadn't received the honor by Chapter Master Arziel to wield the green of Caliban. How one won this was a mystery, they suggested participation on great feats, yet my green plates were only won on an uneventful mission in which Master Arziel captured a lone Heretic Astartes, giving us no explanation as for who he was.

The last one wore gray and silver, a newly inducted Primaris, he wouldn't be able to call himself a Lion until he proved himself in battle, Black and Gold only belonged to true, proven brothers

"Sergeant Varael, we stand ready for orders" said Pontus saluting to me, his newly granted green colors had given him a sudden surge in vitality

"Roar for the Angels, Kill for the Lion!" I roared holding up my Chainsword

"Roar for the Angels, Kill for the Lion!" they roared in response
