Dead Corsairs [4]: Sanguis Extremis

"Sanguis Extremis" I said slowly as Garkhe charged at me, there was no need, as always this bout would only end with one of them dead, but I was Captain of a World Eaters Company, let history know that Vrask Talbor would never forget that.

I shot once with my Plasma Pistol, a coward's move some would say, but I didn't target anything vital. The shot hit his Powerfist, crippling it and veering him just enough for me to evade his charge. He didn't try to dodge it, I threw away my gun, we were on even ground now, Chainsword against Chainsword.

We both charged this time, he was faster on the attack and tried to lob my head off with one swipe, I ducked and tackled him on the chest, making him lose his balance, then tried to stab him with the bladed end of my customized sword. He moved to the side barely enough for my blade to merely scratch his armor.

A powerful swing came from the top at me, I stepped back and rised my sword horizontally to catch it. The sheer power of the blow made me bend to my knees, with our Chainswords locking. Metal teeth started to fly out, cutting our faces, one of them barely missed my right eye. The Nails were singing stronger now, and soon after that I let myself be consumed by their rage. Rising up with newfound strength I pushed him away and started striking. His sword was just a blunt piece of metal now, but mine had blades on it's end and hilt, allowing me to gain the upper hand. I lost myself completely to the Nails during this onslaught, swiping, stabbing and punching him with fury.

My consciousness and control returned to me when I received a blow to my face from his blunt Chainsword, I stumbled back and he kicked my sword off my hands. I was completely awake when he kneeled on me and started striking me with what remained of his crippled Powerfist, caving my face in...

The sense of bliss again. Here I was, awake and alive, one more loss on my tally, I had lost count of how we scored. I stepped up and headed to the cages again...
